Living in strange times

Well I didn't mean the appraisal times. I just mean the times we are in.

We claim to be a democracy , but arrest people for Facebook 'Like' while still allowing blatantly anti national editorial content as well as political speeches that result in discord among different religious and ethnic groups.

While a blatantly anti- Hindu and specifically anti-Brahmin content is allowed as matter of editorial policy of the daily 'Viduthalai' , a Facebook "like" results in imprisonment.

An Arundati Roy is not booked for sedition for her speech sometime back in Srinagar and P.Chidambaram the then home minister said that not taking action was also an action. Thus he proclaimed his siding with "secularism" and announced his arrival on the stage of the "progressives". If say, an ordinary tax paying mortal Indian had uttered such a speech he would be cooling his heels in Tihar. It is another matter that most of the powerful politicians are in Tihar and hence Tihar is the most happening place in India.

How did a Karunanidhi get away with his anti-Ram speech when he inquired about. Lord Ram's engineering degree and made fun of The Lord ?

Likewise many of EVRs' books would have to be banned for their blatantly anti-Hindu and anti-Brahmin content. None of his books can ever be published in, say The UAE just in case we were to replace the word "Hindu" with "Muslim". I don't mean to say that the UAE is a democracy but the universal acceptability of EVRs thoughts that is often proclaimed by the "rationalists" would prove to be false if the words were replaced and still the books cannot be published in the UAE How come India, being a secular democracy , allows this venomous campaign of EVR and his followers? It is a different matter that EVR has stopped being relevant in current times as every political party proclaiming to be EVRs ' follower chooses candidates based on caste that EVR had sought to do away with.

Sound strange, don't they ?

Thanks a lot, Mr.Karunanidhi - Part 1

Really, what a feat !

A fantastic achievement that cannot be repeated in a 100 years to come !

And that needs another Karunanidhi to do that, no body else !

So what is the achievement all about ?

Was it the ability to create and maintain such a multitude of family ?

Was it the insatiable appetite for money that ensured that a 'naadaswaram' player from Thiruvarur became a multi-billionaire and in-turn created several multitudes of millionaries in different parts of the state with the only filter condition that the millionaires were members of the extend arms of your own family ?

Was it the innumerable awards that you received as the former chief minister and the final award for receiving the most number of awards from any Tom, Dick and Harry err.. Elavazhagan, Anbazhagan and Tamizh Maaran ( for the sake of Tamil you see ..).

Was it the great mockery that you and your extended family conducted in Coimbatore in the name of 'Semmozhi Maanaadu' - the classical tamil conference conducted at a whooping cost of Rs 350 crore ( public money, you see ) out of which only the contractors affiliated to your party stood to gain a lot ?

Was it your ability to completely bury the tamil folk arts by way of conducting 'Chennai Sangamam' with the help of an LTTE funded organization and thereby trying to keep Kanimozhi afloat in the murky world of tamil nadu politics ?

Let us look at your achievements one by one and congratulate you on each count for having systematically destroying each ( thanks to you and your group of loyal house-keepers for that !)

Let us start with the world of 'Rationalist Movement' erroneously called by different names such as 'Suya Mariyadhari Iyakkam ( Self Respect Movement ), 'Samooga Needi Iyakkam' ( Social Justice Movement ) etc and the numerous other epithets that are normally associated with you.

1. Rationalist Movement :

The so-called 'Rationalist Movement' espoused by the so-called 'Rationalist god-head' EVR ( Periyar for the masses )was supposed to have been the erradicator of all caste and religious eveils in the state. EVR was supposed to have helped attain equality among all castes and religions. He was supposed to have denounced all god-forms and hence all religions. But the reality is he tried to denounce the hindu gods and the brahmin community. Notwithstanding the merits of his policy, let us lok at how you dismembered his ideals ( if you can call them ideals ).

A. EVR was supposed to have been the 'Father of Tamils' ( Thamizhar Thandhai' ). But the reality is that he belonged to a Kannada speaking warrior community represented called 'Naiker'. He never renounced his name and signed all cheques and documents as 'E.V.Ramasamy Naicker'. So much for erradicating caste and religion. You had denounced Lord Ram. But the 'father of tamils' held on to 'Ramasamy' till his end.

B. EVR, true to his supposed beliefs, never seemed to worship god, hindu god at that. But you made EVR the thirteenth Azhwar ( holy man according to the Vaishnava Sect) by errecting his statue in front of the Sri Rangam temple. By your deed, the hindu pantheon got an 'Azhwar' free of cost, in fact at Govt cost and made EVR worship Lord Ranganatha 24x7, all days of the week in the Vaishava Holy land Sri Rangam. ( probably due to this yeoman service, your bete-noire Jayalalitha, a vaishnavite, has recently won her election from Sri Rangam).

C. The more you publicly criticize the hindu gods, the more your family members visit the temples of south india, probably to expiate the sins that you are causing by way of your utterences. Your wife Smt.Dayalu Ammal, your companion Rajathi Ammal, your daughter-in-law Durga Stalin and your daughter Selvi keep visiting temples, in pubic gare, to pray for your party's victory. What an achievement Sir ji. The more they visit the temples, the more their accompanying artists vist them and thus the temple priests ( the abnoxious brahmin community that is responsible for the dravidian down fall !! ) stands to gain by way of temple / plate offerings.

D. Your God EVR had said that God ( read hindu God as per the classical rationalist theory of Erode ) never existed. He further espoused that those who propogate God were barbarians. Hence you decided to increase the barbarian population and brought in a law allowing people of all castes to become 'Archakar' or priest thereby making EVR turn in his grave. Thanks for that service. Not only have the barbarian population increased but also those following those barbarians such as your family members who visit temples have increased.

E. Have you noticed that your family members have been visiting temples and performing yagas and homams at temples such as Kalahasthi, Thirunallaru, Madurai and Ramanathapuram only. These temples have only brahmin priests ? Why not ask them to alteast visit those temples where non-brahmins are priests ? Why don't they visit the village temples of deities such as Ayyanaar, Muneeswaran, Mariyamma etc ? Thanks for making them visit only brahmin-priested temples thereby closing the rationalistic coffin of EVR.

F. Again thanks for declaring time and again that the DMK was not a 'Sankara Matam' where successors are annointed by the prevailing Swamijis. You are right. In the 'Sankara Matams' there can only be one successor. But in the DMK, the state has been divided into many fiefdoms with each family member being incharge of each.

Learn while you earn ..

We might have heard about earning while learning. But here is a girl who tries to learn while earning.

Probably the child thinks that the Chief Minister is too busy working for the welfare of his family, the 'Pattaali' party is busy looking after its own 'Koottalis', and therefore let me take care of myself as well as my family by trying to learn while earning for a living repairing shoes.

No, the below people are not laughing at the fate of the girl above. They know that the girl cannot vote yet. Hence they are safe. They are laughing amongst themselves that the girl's parents and the millions of other people who have sold their voting rights to them for a pittance.

A billion idiots and counting..

An idiot is an idiot irrespective of nationality. And I am proud to declare that I am one such.

Mark Twain once said "In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards".

So once we are educated in our system of education that uses the school's blackboard, we know where we are headed. Not to mention the NCERT and the Tamil Nadu govt history text books that talk about the "Indian History" that never paints Aurangazeb in bad light and where there is no mention of his vandalizing the temples. Likewise the TN govt text books that contain material that eulogize Periyar, Annadurai and MK, not necessarily in the same order, while their 'achievements' are questionable.

What you can expect in future are some topics on Raja and Kanimozhi and some "poets" like Vaali and Vairamuthu singing the glory of the pair ( no pun intended ).

Well, what has 'idiots; got to do with the pair ? Well, let us go over.

Some legend here about some legendary figures :

• G1- Sonia (G)- the precursor to 2G.
• G2- Rahul (G) - the progeny of G1.
• Kani - the poetess, temptress from the south
• Raja - needs no legend as he is already one
• MMS - the de jure prime minister ( note that India has a Prime Minister still )
• MK - the only guardian of Tamil Culture who runs a govt writing screen plays for tamil films

Having come across some 'legends', we know that iare either born in India or they are made in Indian schools. In case you are not an idiot by birth, you are made into one once you read the history books taught in schools. Otherwise how can one believe the following :

1. MMS is the 'cleanest' PM that the country has ever had, thus say the 'elite' english papers, this despite the fact that he tolerated a scam-boss in his ministry for more than 4 years. One of the records that he has set is that he has made the nation proud by being the leader of the government that has indulged in the largest scam in the world, so far.
2. The 2Gs ( Sonia-G and Rahul-G ) remain unscathed in the scams so far and are hailed for what ever the reason.
3. The 2Gs are not responsible for the Bihar debacle when the congress has won just 4 out of 220 seats. The party has decided that the party itself had been weak in Bihar and that they have to start from the scracth. Thus, if any victory in any part of the country occurs for the Congress, paenas for the 2Gs for their remarkable leadership but no responsibility in case there is a debacle.
4. Rahul (G2) is more patriotic and 'secular' and therefore he has absolved Lakshar-e-Toiba to the US Ambassador.
5. Rahul (G2) is the most secular human being available in India as he has expressed fears about the Hindu Terror Organizations ( read 'saffron terror' as that is the buzz word now-a-days) after the Mumbai attacks.
6. Kani is a poetess par excellence ( as often eulogized by Vaali and Vairamuthu ) despite the fact that she has stoped writing long back and only talks to Radia and Radio either backing Raja or opposing Dayanidhi.
7. The whole world does not know of the relationship between Kani and Raja despite the duo blushing about each other to the Radio ( err.. Radia ).
8. Raja is the only culpable person in the whole 2G loot and the DMK has no relations what so ever.
9. MK is still sensible and is fit enough to be a Chief Minister and therefore is seen either going to Delhi in a wheel-chair or is seen accepting awards for writing dialogues for un-seeable films that bomb in the box-office even during the first show.
10. Raja is being hounded by the media only because he is a dalit and therefore , P.J.Thomas, the tainted Chief Vigilance Commissioner of India, is also being hounded by the Supreme Court just because he happens to be a Christian. Hence the Supreme Court is racist / aryan / communal etc.
11. Ratan Tata and therefore the Tata group are honourable despite the Radio's ( err Radia's) escapades.
12. Ratan Tata is an honourable person despite the fact that he speaks about the party dress that Radio Radia would wear to a party hosted by Ratan.
13. Azhagiri is an educated person who has the ability to talk ( not to metion the language ).
14. Vir Sanghvi and Barkha Dutt are the most secular faces of the media and they can keep espousing on morality and justice to gullible public.
15. The BJP is above all corruption. Yeddyurappa need not resign despite the dubious land deals that get published daily.
16. The victory for the NDA in Bihar is because of Nitish Kumar and thus not because of the BJP while the victory for the BJP in Gujarat is because of the polarization on communal lines by Narendra Modi and not because of his govt's achievements. This is secularism for the un-initiated.
17. EVR is the erstwhile head of the Tamil dravidian family and he brought back the glory to Tamil despite the fact that his mother tongue was Kannada and he had remarked about Tamil to be the language of the barbarians.
18. MK spends considerable amount of time in 'governing' the state of Tamil Nadu ( a functional anarchy at that ) and he does this feat by writing unpalatable dialogues to un-seeable films.
19. Kani and her mother ( don't know a parliamentary word to define her relationship with MK ) are doing social work with VOLTAS that too in the cause of the Sri Lankan tamils.
20. Fr. Jagath Casper Raj's association with Kani ( or is it the other way around ) is only platonic and they have devoted their lives to the cause of Tamil folk arts and Sri Lankan tamils.

We have to believe in all the above and be 'patriotic' and 'dravidian' ( both being mutually exclusive terms ) all at the same time.
In case one doesn't believe in the above, he is supposed to be an 'aryan' by birth ( as per MK theory of racial orientation ) and can be classified as one of the following :

1. Mount Road Mahavishnu
2. Person with a thread across his body
3. Both 1 and 2.

Why are Raja & Azhagiri better than Sashi Tharoor ?

So, what did Azhagiri do wrong that has made him the so-called 'villain' in the Indian Parliament ? What was the heinous crime committed by Azhagiri ? He didn't answer questions pertaining to his ministry. He didn't do so because he hadn't attended Parliament since the last one year.He didn't attend theParliamanent since the last one year because he was preoccupied with other foreign travels. International business development pertaining to his ministry probably. So there is reason enough for him not to be able to attend Parliament and hence not answer questions. So what is the noise in the media about ? Let us imagine that Azhgiri had attended Parliamament and answered questions.

How would that have mattered ? Would the Fertilizer prices have come down to the delight of the farmers ? Would the price of the essential grains have come down thus bringing down the inflation ? Could the answers have saved the farmers from committing suicides ?

So what is the large debate about ? If this is about the vacation that Azhagiri had in Maldives when the Parliament was in session, even then that does not matter. This too doesn't matter because nothing ever gets done in the Parliament now-a-days. Azhagiri's probable answers would have helped the opposition members to stage a walk out thus compensating for missing their morning walks, if they had missed them.

So when the opposition asked the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to know about the whereabouts of Azhagiri, she expressed her ignorance. So did the Prime Minister. So when the Prime Minister himself is not concerned about the whereabouts of his Cabinet Minister, why should the opposition be concerned ? Just because they are opposition members why should they oppose ? How does the opposition dare ask about the whereabouts of Azhagiri ? The Prime Minister's ignorance can be pardoned as it is a well known fact that the PM does not have a say in who should be in his Cabinet. It is decided by Powers-that-be and he is a mute spectator. Therefore asking the Prime Minister about one of his cabinet ministers is atrocious.

Then what is the point of bringing in Shashi Tharror here ? How does he compare with Azhagiri ?

Well, here you have the suave and highly erudite Tharoor on the one hand who was a minister of state and on the other hand you had Azhagiri on whom you cannot attribute these qualities. And it is not Azhagiri's fault that he cannot be the repository of such attributes.

But, even with these admirable attributes, Tharoor is not even a minister of state but Azhagiri continues to be a Cabinet Minister even without attending Parliament for the last one year. So, who is better ? Here is a Cabinet Minister who is not answerable to the Parliament, leave alone the Prime Minister. He still continues to be a minister whereas Tharoor is busy cooling his heels in 'God's own land'.

Let us, for a moment leave alone Tharoor's in-experience in handling a woman accomplice and ineptitude in handling a smaller scam to the tune of Rs.70 crores. Mind it, this was not public money / government money - this was private money in a black money diven private enterprise called as the IPL.

With all erudition and suave diplomatic characteristics, Tharoor was booted out of Parliament in a manner that not even Shibu Soren, a convict, is entitled to. His explanations were not even heard in the IPL row. When he attempted to speak, his words were not received at all. That was because he did not belong to a political class that has made politics as a means of earning money without any compunctions; a class that has made general public opinion a matter of print fit only for tissue paper; a class that has ensured that great political debate does not occur in the parliament. And here is a politician who has had dubious credentials as the chief of a fiefdom to the south of Tamil Nadu and who has created a new method of wining elections with blatant disregard to the norms yet still continues to be an Union Minister even without attending Parliament for the last one year. And there is this Prime Minister who doesn't know where his Cabinet Minister was. Of course the PM wouldn't have been taken by surprise this time as he has had this experience already when Shibu Soren went underground for some time even while being an Union Minister.

Hence, Azhagiri, the minister who is eternally present in Madurai, is far better suited to Indian politics than the erstwhile UN Under Secretary General. Tharoor is fit only for the US and not for us, the Indians while Azhagiri is fit to represent us in Parliament, although in eternal absentia, from Maldives.

Next in line is Raja. Sssshhhhh. Never talk about him. Just like you should not talk about "In-Justice" Dinakaran. However taller might be their acts of misdemeanor, they should not be acted upon and neither should they be talked about. That is social-justice as these two belong to a special class that Karunanidhi often talks about.

"Austerity" and the grand revelation

The more the discussion in the initialization part of anyproject, greater are the chances of the project getting scrapped altogether. Likewise, the more the focus and brouhaha on 'austerity', the lesser are the chances of the same getting implemented. Otherwise, there would be a grand emergence of the 'cattle class' in all modes of transport ( let the cattle forgive me for equating them to humans ). While we would want to call the recent expenditure pertaining to the aerial tourism of Rahul Gandhi amounting to Rs One Crore an 'austerity measure', we would also need to call the 'statueization initattive' of Mayawati as an extreme measure in austerity. But you cannot discount the enormous 'job opportunities' that this Mayawati escapede has resulted in; probably more than even the NREGA initiatives of the Ulta Pulta Alliance govt. It is a matter of great mirth that this' austerity' is being touted as a virtue as if that need not have been followed so far by anybody and that the Congress peole have invented the same as a remedy for the economic downturn. 'Austerity' has always been the halmark of Indian ethos and civilizational values. Never has flamboyance and extravaganza been applauded in the Indian scenario right from earlier days of Chanakya to the days of Mahatma Gandhi. Erstwhile leaders like Kamaraj and Kakkan had used public transport even wneh they held office as the Chief Executives of the state of TN. In fact, when Kamaraj died, his entire bank balance amounted to Rs 32 ( Rupees Thirty Two only ). I don't want to guess what would be the financial worth of the current chief minister and his other ministers as that would be beyond my capacity as I wouldn't know how many 'zeros' to add after 32. The timing of this 'austerity' is really suspicious. Let us look at some of the incidents that took place simultaneously when this 'austerity' dawned on the high and the mighty of this land.

• Rahul Gandhi paid an 'economical' visit to TN by spending just Rs One Crore.
• P.Chidambaram returned from the US after a 'damp-squib' trip - after complaining "Mummy Mummy, Pakistan is pinching me daily"
• China made few incursions into Arunachal, Ladakh and elsewhere after these soldiers painted some rocks in the Indian side 'red' and engraved 'Yellow River' ( a reference to China ) in Cantonese.
• Krishna and Sashi Tharoor stayed in a 5 star hotel
• Karananidhi was 'wheel-chair ridden', as usual, attending various valedictory functions and receiving awards in the name of Anna Durai, EVR and Ambedkar.
• Stalin paid a vist to London for 'routine' medical check-up
• Prices of essential commodities continued their upward spiral more in line with the trajectory of the PSLV rockets of recent times
• Elections in Maharashtra were scheduled and farmer suicides continued without any respite.
• Monsoon failed and therefore drought conditions prevailed all over.
• Pakistan affirmed for the nth time that India had not provided 'evidence' of 26/11 attacks.
• Azhagiri contined to hide from questions in the Parliament.
• Jayalalitha tried to recover from election work related fatigue by continuing to stay in the palatial guest house in the Nilgris ( elections have been over for for than 4 months)
• Full page advertisements that proclaimed the supposed 'achievements' of the current government continued in news papers. Full page ads cost a bomb, anyways. But the government is practising 'austerity' - you should believe this . Unable to draw any conclusion from the above, I tried to look the other way and landed up on the volumes of 'literature' available in the news papers about the contours and otherwise of the female actors from Bollywood and Kollywood. Then it dawned on me - austerity is being practised by B'wood and K'wood in terms of the dress and attire of female actors. Hence I have come to the conclusion that the film industry is the only one that sincerely follows what M.K.Gandhi preached and practised - austerity ! What a heavenly revelation !!
